Thank you to everyone who displayed their American flags on October 31st to honor President Abraham Lincoln and the dedication of the Lincoln Highway in his memory. A big thank you goes out to the City of Dixon for their proclamation of October 31, 2013 as Lincoln Highway Day.
October 31, 2013 marks the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Lincoln Highway to Abraham Lincoln’s memory by the Lincoln Highway Association. On that day in 1913, towns along the Lincoln Highway celebrated with bonfires and decorating with red, white, and blue bunting, and American flags. To honor the 100th Anniversary of the Lincoln Highway Association’s dedication of the Lincoln Highway as a memorial to Abraham Lincoln for the people of the United States, fly your flag on October 31, 2013. Tell your neighbors to fly their flags on October 31, too. Maybe take some time out in between answering the door for Trick-or-Treaters to remember and think about our President Lincoln that day.
There will be an Ice Cream Social and an Antique Car Show on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway in Morrison, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
For more information, please see: Ice Cream Social and Antique Car Show.
