1928 Lincoln Highway Concrete Marker Dedication, Saturday, April 27th
Join the Flagg Township Museum in Rochelle for a 1928 Concrete Marker dedication on Saturday, April 27th, 11:00 a.m.! In 1928, the Lincoln Highway Association organized the placement of over 2,400 concrete markers. The Lincoln Highway Association turned to another organization found in every state to place the markers, with plenty of volunteers prepared to do heavy lifting, the Boy Scouts. Thus, Boy Scouts all along the Lincoln Highway worked together to dig deep holes and lift the markers into place in September of 1928. The Flagg Township Museum recently received a generous donation of a concrete marker and it will be dedicated on Saturday, April 27th at 11:00. The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend! The Flagg Township Museum is at 518 4th Ave, Rochelle, IL 61068.
Dogs are welcome to join, too for Dog Day at the Iron Fountain! The museum’s outdoor Iron Fountain will be turned on for the family pooch to enjoy cool water. Originally constructed as a water fountain for people and a lower trough for horses, today, dogs enjoy lapping water from the lower trough during the warmer months.
